Copenhagen Through Pictures Part 1

I started my trip really rough. Firstly, I had to leave with M at 3am in the morning, took the night public bus followed by National Express to Stansted Airport.

Breakfast at the airport. Both of us had Smoked Salmon Bagel which was delicious enough to keep us awake.

After 2.5 hours of flight, we touched down in Copenhagen Airport. There is the Little Mermaid replica in the airport. The real Little Mermaid is on holiday in Shanghai at the moment and there is a Chinese Artwork in place. We'll find out the next day how great is this work of art.

Train to Copenhagen city center. The journey was about 15 minutes. I just noticed the weird sense of fashion too. We checked into our hotel which was just 2 minutes from the main train station, had power nap of half and hour and started our exploration.

Every so often we came across trucks of youngsters shouting, screaming and loud honking but we had no idea what was the occasion. Only toward the end of our time in Copenhagen that we found out that they're graduating soon and this was how they celebrate. Maybe I should do that too. Hahahaha.

Miniature town of Copenhagen a few hundred years ago.

First meal in Copenhagen in this really beautiful restaurant within a garden. Even the people who dined there looked so posh and well dressed.

Our first Smørrebrød (open face sandwich) with buttered rye bread served with herrings and mayonnaise. This was when we concluded that the mayonnaise here is extremely delicious. There was some fruit placed in it which had a lot of seeds when cut open but it tasted really sour. I still have no idea what it is. Just eat the mayo.

Carlsberg museum. I like the white statues of elephants.

We were quite late in reaching there and the closing time was 5pm. We decided not to enter the museum itself as the entrance included 2 complimentary drinks and we thought that to finish at least 4 units of alcohol within 1 hour is a bit too much. At least we got to visit the Jacobsen stables.

On our way back, I spotted this small little cafe and casually mentioned that the pastries there looked really nice and M dragged me in there. That was the best move ever because.....

The strawberry tart is the best pastry that I've eaten in my whole life. Didn't bother too much about the chocolate ball but that was once of the best chocolate ball that I've tasted too. Back to the strawberry tart, usually you don't taste the natural sweetness of the strawberries but this time, it seemed like no extra sugar was added. There was fresh cream in the middle and the crust base was absolutely so delicious. It was really crunchy. I wanted to eat another one but the both of us were still full from lunch. Too bad. If anyone is there, the shop is Musik Conditori, Vesterbrogade 148.

Initially, I thought that it was a Chinese temple in the middle of the street, but turned out to be a Chinese restaurant.

Really huge Shaun the sheep.

Street performance. This one had water coming out his hair.

Tivoli garden. We entered this place at 7.59pm as the price increases from 8pm onwards on a Friday. Hahaha.

Tivoli garden was a hybrid of theme park, gardens, concert, funfair, basically a little bit of everything

Transported to India. Actually there are many restaurants inside this palace.

M is blending in with the flowers.

The twin of Little Mermaid. Since her other half is in Shanghai, they placed her twin in Tivoli garden. I'm not sure which is is have the better time. I think I rather play in Tivoli garden than traveling to Shanghai Expo.

Our first sit-down stop was to wait for the performance at this Chinese inspired stage. The both of us were expecting some Chinese Martial Arts performance or Opera but guess what was the performance that night....

Feather open

And....it is classical ballet! Seems so out of place on a stage like that but we enjoyed it anyway.

Beautiful surroundings.

Trying to guard the entrance of Tivoli Garden.

M looks more authentic than me. I just cannot keep a straight face for long.

We tried the Frank hotdog which has the bun filled with sauce of your choice before the hotdog is place in it. This was the point when we concluded that the food in Copenhagen is super yummy! The tomato sauce was so delicious that I wouldn't mind drinking it as tomato soup. The mustard was really delicious too. If it's not for the price of the food here, I would become obese in no time.

Japaese pagoda

I like how the park can appeal to all ages.

Initially I was planning to go back to the hotel before 11pm as we had a really long day, but in the end, we stayed till 1am in the park. Why? Read on to find out.

There was a live concert by a Danish rock band. There were sooo many people and all of them paid to get into the park to watch them. At that point, M and I are still clueless to who the band was. All of their songs were in English surprisingly but they interacted with the audience in Danish.

We later found out that this band was Kashmir, a famous Danish rock band. Their songs were quite catchy and I am in the process of finding their songs. It was a really nice change to get to watch the big screens around fountains in a park.

Fancy breaking plates by throwing balls at them?

Horse racing based on number of points obtained from rolling balls.

 Spot the big candy
I've never seen prizes this big and claws this size. I wonder if anyone won anything from here.

Waiting for the Illumination performance to begin.

This was once of the most impressive fountain display with special effects from fog and laser that I've seen. It was worth staying till 12.15 am to watch it.

 Goodnight Tivoli Garden.
